St. Anastasia was the dughter of nobles, and was secretly baptized and raised Christian by her mother. She spent much of her time ministering to and consoling fellow Christians, particularly those who had been imprisoned. While visiting prison, she met and learned from St. Chrysogonus. St. Chrysogonus was beheaded by order of the emperor Diocletian. St. Anastasia continued ministering, and mourning the loss of the many confessors of her faith. After one public display of her grief, she was arrested and when she would not abandon her faith, she was martyred. These two martyrs are commemorated together on the 22nd of January.
