Celebrated January 6th as Epiphany or Theophany, the Feast commemorates the event recounted in Mt. 3.13-17, Mk. 1.9-11, and Lk. 3.21-22, whereby Christ's earthly mission began: St. John the Forerunner leads him into the River Jordan and baptized him. The Holy Spirit is seen descending upon him in the form of a dove, as the Father's voice proclaims from heaven that Jesus is his only Son.

The icon on the right was done through the St. John of Damascus Icon Studio, and is part of a festal tier in the iconostasis of the Chapel at Camp Nazareth.
