St. Gregory the Theologian
St.Gregory the Theologian was born in Arianzus in 330 to wealthy parents who valued education. His father was the bishop of Nazianzus having converted to Christianity because of his wife, and becoming devout. St. Gregory was trained in rhetoric in Cappadocian Caesarea. He was an ardent defender of the church against Arianaism, and his classical education and humility are evident in his theological writings.
This Icon is part of a set done through the Saint John of Damascus Studio for St. Nicholas Church in Montreal.
