St. Jacob Netsvetov was born to a Russian Man and an Aleut woman in 1802. This helped him in his extraordinary missionary activities among the native poplulations of Alaska. His zeal and his lack of regard for his health and safety, allowed him to spread the gospel into some very inhopitable locations. He translated texts into several native languages, moving further into Alaska than other missionaries had. St. Jacob was truly an enlightener and evangelist among the natives of Alaska.

This is part of a mural of the American Orthodox Saints commissioned by Nativity of the Virgin Mary Church (OCA) in Monongahela PA.
