The Entrance into Jerusalem -- Palm Sunday -- commemorates the event narrated in Mt. 21.1-11, Mk. 11.1-11, Lk. 19.29-41, and Jn. 12.12-19: preparing to celebrate his final earthly Passover and accept his own suffering and death, Jesus rides an ass into the Holy City, feted by the multitudes who shout, "Hosanna!" and wave palm branches.
