Though I'm not always good about keeping this site updated regularly, I try to keep adding new icons as they are completed. From the earliest centuries of Christianity, icons have been an integral part of the faith, everywhere. The Byzantine style -- strict lines, vibrant colors, strong stylization -- evolved in the Middle East, the Balkans, and Russia. But today, copies of these works are gaining popularity in the post-Renaissance and Enlightenment West. They're finding their way into boutiques and catalogs, but often these are only paper copies of the originals, decoupaged onto wood, perhaps "antiqued" and gilded.

And so, expensive as they often are, they fall short in the spiritual realm. For traditionally, icons were not mass-produced, but hand-painted for each individual client -- and prayed over as they were being painted.

I make every effort to deliver hand-painted icons at a reasonable price, in a reasonable amount of time. Since every icon is produced on-demand to meet your specifications, some delays are inevitable, but you'll learn up-front when you order if this is the case, and I try never to keep clients waiting a moment longer than absolutely necessary ...

I base my compositions on traditional -- although sometimes, unusual -- prototypes. I render these in Jo SonjaŽ acrylic paints, which offer the finest colors and textures for this type of work. Halos and highlights are executed in 23-carat gold leaf.
